Will my piggies actually use the litter tray?
Most will. Simply pop the tray in the corner they already favour and add a generous handful of fresh hay. Guinea pigs naturally like to eat where they toilet, so many quickly get the idea.
Every piggy is different, though. Some take to it within days, while others need a little more time. That's perfectly normal.
Will it help with the smell?
The litter tray encourages most of your pets to go to the toilet in one easy-to-manage spot. Replace the hay each day and you'll notice the biggest source of odour stays contained instead of spreading throughout the habitat.
Combined with the absorbent pee pads, which keep a lot of excess moisture at bay, you’re looking at a fresher habitat. That means fewer deep cleans and far less time spent wishing smells away.
Just make sure you place the tray and pads in the spots where your piggies spend the most time.
How often do I need to clean everything?
Most owners spend just a couple of minutes each day on a quick once-over:
- Replace the hay in the litter tray.
- Shake the pee pads to remove loose hay and debris.
- Remove any obvious waste.
- If you have other Kavee accessories, shake/wipe clean as well.
If your habitat doesn't have a lid, simply move your piggies to a safe space, shake accessories to loosen debris and vacuum up obvious waste by placing the nozzle straight into the habitat before popping everything back. Plus, it saves you bending over so much!
Once a week, place the pads and any other accessories that need a good clean inside the laundry bag and pop them in the washing machine. Then they're ready to use again (and again.)
Will this replace my weekly habitat clean?
Not quite, but it'll make it much easier. By encouraging your piggies to use one toilet corner and catching wees on washable pads, you'll spend far less time spot cleaning throughout the week.
Your weekly wash stays the same, but your daily routine becomes much quicker, and your habitat stays fresher in between. Plus, the nasty smells guinea pigs are known for producing are just not around so much with this bundle.
Will it fit my habitat?

Do I still need loose bedding?
No. There's no loose bedding required.

Is everything machine washable?
The pee pads are fully machine washable.
Simply place them inside the included laundry bag before washing. It gives them a thorough clean while helping protect your washing machine from loose hay, fur and other habitat debris.
Wash the pads once a week, then pop them straight back into your piggies' habitat.
